When I travel, I really like to seek out local goods and shops, but sometimes it’s hard to figure out “where the locals would go”. In order to share some of my favorite finds in different cities (and countries!), I created a “My Faves” resource, broken down my state. The green flag has been waved and the 2015 holiday shopping season has begun (at least for those of us who didn't finish our shopping 2 months ahead of time)! Traditional retailers have been tempting us with their Black Friday deals for weeks, but today I want to talk about my favorite post-Thanksgiving shopping event - Small Business Saturday.

Basically, the day was created to encourage shoppers to get out and support smaller, local shops within their community (which, personally, I feel we should do much more frequently than one day a year). So, I'd like to encourage each of you to save some of your Black Friday budget to spend at locally-owned retailers in your area tomorrow, Saturday, November 28th. Be sure to post pictures of your Small Business Saturday purchases on social media with #southernggifts so we can see all your awesome finds!
